The book repeatedly tells you that it's very important to thoroughly research any company in which you're thinking of buying stock, however it doesn't tell you anything about the kinds of things you're looking for in your research. The author mentions keeping a folder of information on companies of interest and defining reasons to sell, but there is almost no discussion of what one should look for in that information, how one should determine when to sell a stock, nor how one determines a good price ... I bought this book to learn the basics of investing and it didn't disappoint. Jason Kelly gives an easy-to-read book on the basics of investing in stocks. It explains basic principles as well as showing HOW and WHERE to find the information. Other books get into complex data that leave the newbie in the fog. I highly recommend this book to anyone new to stock market investing.

One of the best things about learning something new is realizing exactly how much you didn't know and how much you have to learn. At first i felt overwhelmed trying to figure out where to begin. I am new to investing and this book was a perfect place to start. It did a great job of breaking everything down with a clear and concise voice that was easy to understand. The author takes the time to explain things piece by piece so that you don't feel overwhelmed by all of the information. He walks you through ... Read More

At one point in his writing Mr Kelly makes reference to how you, the reader, "picked out this book from among a crowded shelf", and I must say that I feel quite fortunate to have done so. This 270-page book took me from knowing literally nothing about securities (quite honestly, from "what's a stock?") to feeling as if I were ready to start investing. I should note here that I'm a rather conservative person, and that this isn't a book for reckless people trying to get rich easily overnight. It takes you stepwise ... Read More
